About Our Business

Meyering Insurance Agency, Inc. was founded in 1948 by John Meyering of Holland, Michigan. Mr. Meyering started our business by writing simple fire and wind insurance policies to the farmers of Ottawa and Allegan counties. After several successful years, while operating out of his own farm house, he expanded his products to include home and auto insurance.

In 1961 John’s nephew, Robert Jansen, took over the family run operation and moved the office a few miles away to Hamilton, Michigan, where we still operate an office today. Bob brought on partners Jack Ten Cate, and Denny Kempkers, and together over the next several years they broadened the operations of the agency to include all lines of Personal, Commercial, Farm, Life, and Health insurance products.

Bob retired in 2006 and Jack retired in 2007. Those of us now involved in operating the business recognize we would not be where we are today without the hard work, and decades of service, these gentleman dedicated to the agency.

Since 1948 we have come a long way. The business has grown from that office out of a farm house, to an operation with multiple offices and several locations. But some things have remained unchanged, such as the fundamentals that started our business — honest, professional, and personalized service. We are proud to represent some of the most respected insurance carriers in the industry. But more importantly we have been blessed to be represented by such a professional, friendly, and experienced office staff. Together we work one on one with our customers to ensure the highest quality personalized service in the industry.
